August JQY Meeting!!! 08/14/2014

Hey Everyone,

It's time again for our monthly JQY meeting!
What: August's JQY Meeting!

When: Thursday, August 14th, 8:30-10:30

Where: The Jewish Community Center in Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Ave. and 76th St. New York, NY 10023.

This month's topic: V'Ahavta - an Israeli film about homosexuality in Orthodox society

This month Justin Spiro will screen the film V'Ahavta and then facilitate a discussion on the movie's themes of reparative therapy, coming out, self-acceptance, and reconciling one's faith and sexuality. What did the film maker intend to teach us through the film? Do we agree with the message? Join us for another lively and interesting discussion.

Suggested donation: $3, and of course, we will be serving refreshments before, after, and during the meeting... :)

JQY meetings take place on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the JCC of Manhattan. The meetings are aimed at members aged 17-30, and are on a different topic every month.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for meeting topics, or if you would like to lead a discussion for a certain topic or month, feel free to email me: admin.jqyouth@gmail.com

Hope to see you all there! This is a great opportunity for all the new
members to come down and meet everyone in person!

Best,
Mordechai

July's JQY Meeting!

Thursday, July 10th, 8:30-10:30

The Jewish Community Center in Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Ave. and 76th St. New York, NY 10023.

This month's topic: Pride and Modesty: Values in conflict?

This month our very own Jeremy Novich will facilitate a discussion on pride and modesty.  What do these concepts mean to us? Is it possible to be proud  of ones sexual identity and value modesty at the same time? What would that look like? Join us as we discuss how to navigate these issues in what is sure to be a lively and interesting discussion.

Suggested donation: $3, and of course, we will be serving refreshments before, after, and during the meeting... :)
