The Conference:
The program features experts in the mental health field of sexuality and gender, along with leading Orthodox Rabbinic authorities and clinical professionals with experience working with LGBT people from the Orthodox and Hasidic community. They will present cases, review the latest research and develop a conceptual framework in which therapists and Orthodox rabbis can work together to offer the best care.
This Conference is designed for mental health professionals, educators, and rabbinic leaders.

The 8th Annual JQY PURIM Bash and Megillah Reading 3/4/15

The 8th Annual JQY PURIM Bash and Megillah Reading!

Presented by JQY & JCC Manhattan

Dust off those costumes, and break out the groggers! 
Join over 300 friends, old and new, for our 8th Annual LGBTQ Community Purim Party and 7th Annual Megillah Reading, complete with appetizers, Hamantaschen, an OPEN BAR, costume contest and dance party!

Date: Wednesday, March 4th
Time: 6:30 PM Megillah Reading; 8:00 PM Party and Costume Contest
Cover: $20.00 ($10.00 for students at the door)
Location: JCC Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Ave. at 76th St, NYC

We begin the evening at 6:30 p.m. with a special traditional Megillah reading by members of our own community! The festivities continue 8:00 p.m into the night with an OPEN BAR, dancing, yummy food, and a costume contest with prizes!

Come for the Megillah, come for the dancing, or just come to fulfill the Mitzvah of getting so drunk that you can't tell the difference between Esther and Mordechai!
...At this party that may be easier than you think!

This month's topic: High Holy Days: an LGBT Survival Guide

This month we will have a round table conversation about our thoughts and feelings on the upcoming high holidays. Are you excited for Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur...or are you dreading them? How have they been in the past? Will this year be different, Why? Join us as we swap stories, vent emotions and share tips on not just surviving the upcoming holidays but enjoying them too.

Suggested donation: $3, and of course, we will be serving refreshments before, after, and during the meeting... :)

JQY meetings take place on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the JCC of Manhattan. The meetings are aimed at members aged 17-30, and are on a different topic every month.

Come meet other LGBTQ High School and College-Age people in the JQY community! The BBQ is open to ALL LGBTQ Jews ages 14 to 22. We'll have burgers, hot dogs, and lots of fun! All food will be kosher, and we'll have vegetarian food available upon request. Please RSVP so we know how much food to get!

This month's topic: V'Ahavta - an Israeli film about homosexuality in Orthodox society

This month Justin Spiro will screen the film V'Ahavta and then facilitate a discussion on the movie's themes of reparative therapy, coming out, self-acceptance, and reconciling one's faith and sexuality. What did the film maker intend to teach us through the film? Do we agree with the message? Join us for another lively and interesting discussion.

Is it possible to be proud  of ones sexual identity and value modesty at the same time? What would that look like? Join us as we discuss how to navigate these issues in what is sure to be a lively and interesting discussion.
